By locking your domain name, you will able to defend it from unauthorized transfers. Thus, any person who attempts to start a transfer of your domain to some other registrar will be automatically stopped.

And if you need to transfer the domain to another domain registrar yourself, you can unlock it with a mere click of the mouse. The locking/unlocking functionality is accessible in the Domain Manager section of your Control Panel. Simply choose a domain and after that click the Registrar Lock icon to lock or unlock it.
